Ωceans – A Galatée films produced in partnership with the Census of Marine Life and the Sloan Foundation

Headed by renowned French film producer and actor Jacques Perrin, Galatée Film Productions has released a breathtaking film about the world's oceans. The Galatée team received the support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and worked closely with Census of Marine Life scientists to ensure the scientific accuracy of the film. The film was released worldwide and nominated for three "Cesars" (the French "Oscars") in the categories of best documentary, best sound, and best music. A PDF of a full-color brochure, prepared by François Sarano of Galatée and Scientific Steering Committee vice-chair Myriam Sibuet, features the marine species highlighted in the film and provides links to pages in the Encyclopedia of Life where one can find additional information about individual species.

The Census and Galatée hosted a series of scientific events around the globe to enhance public understanding of science, ocean life and marine conservation.
